Joining the Peninsula Jaycees

What can the Peninsula Jaycees offer?

Plenty! In fact, the Jaycees can provide you with a complete foundation and opportunity for success in almost every facet of your life.

Jaycees offer PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT, providing you with courses to help you develop fully as an individual. We can improve your public speaking ability, and train you in managing your personal finances, budgeting your time, and establishing concrete goals.

The Jaycees offer MANAGEMENT TRAINING on a regular basis, including quarterly state meetings at locations throughout Virginia. Jaycee members learn management techniques to help them handle other volunteers. The skills carry over into the business sector, making Jaycees more valuable to their employers.

How much time will being a Jaycee take?

Participation is always voluntary in the Jaycees. It only takes as much time as you wish to devote.

Becoming a member doesn't have to feel like "another job". Help out as much, or as little, as YOU want!

Membership

Membership in the Peninsula Jaycees is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 40. Membership dues are $75 for one year and include membership in the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce and Junior Chamber International. We invite you to join our fun and exciting organization. Membership Benefits

Apart from the management training, personal development and the "feel good" from supporting your community, the Peninsula Jaycees are proud to offer;

• PJ Points

Members acquire points each time they attend or participate in a chapter activity (or even another chapter's activities). Points are totaled for each month with a maximum of 35 pts each month. Members can redeem these points for awards ranging from embroidered polo shirts to hotel costs at conventions .

• Perks

As a chapter member, we have enjoyed various perks over the years which have included free tickets to the following: Langley Speedway, Tides Skybox, Pilots Box Seats, IMAX films, etc.

• US Jaycees Membership

As a member of the Peninsula Jaycees, you're also enrolled into the US Jaycees.

PJ Points

What are they?

PJ Points are points that are accrued by members for participation. Points are awarded for a variety of different reasons and the amount awarded changes between different things (i.e. attending a Chapter Meeting = 5 points or wearing your name tag = 1 point).

What are they worth?

Long story, short; money!

Short story, long; the PJ Points don't have an actual monetary value and can not be redeemed for cash, HOWEVER! The points can be used to cover the cost or supplement the cost of something so the member doesn't have to pay all or some of the cost. The points are non-transferable, but they can be used for variety of different things (i.e. supplement hotel costs, pay for the cost of a polo shirt, pay for your registration fee). Basically you inform the treasurer that you'd like to use PJ Points to pay for something, and the amount is deducted from your points total and the chapter pays for the cost.

PJ Points Levels

There are different levels that each member can earn. The different levels hold no significant value, except to all those completionists out there, here is another adventure for you!

• Platinum - (1500+)

• Gold - (800+)

• Silver - (400+)

• Bronze - (150+)

• Active - (40+)

• Up and - Coming (1+)
